Restart the License Logging Service. Then check AD Sites and Services and make sure that the Site Licensing properties show your server as the licensing server. The Plague, from the movie "Hackers".
I just reinstalled the CALs I had and hey presto it worked. Close Box. Log In Come Join Us! Any device can access the server, but the number of simultaneous access connections hitting the server at any given time must not exceed the number of Windows device CALs designated to that server.
This is best if you have several users per single workstation. And any workstation with a device CAL can access any Windows servers accross your network. I suggest you read the following steps at this link for a resolution you may also ge:. If the issue persists, we can try to deactivate or reactivate a License Server. Those were by far the most informative pieces I've read on this issue by MS.
Most of the others just left my brain feeling like runny jello. Still leaves the question as to how I'm getting 12 users connected when the licensing admin panel says I have 5 licenses. But I guess that's negligable when the additional CALs arrive and everything is squared away. Last question I have now is looking down the road a little ways. This answer is based on the above mentioned; I am assuming you are referring to Microsoft Small Business Server? Its upgrade capacity is up to 75 connections total, and requires CALs accordingly.
It was designed to take into consideration that small business owners might have limited knowledge in administering and maintaining their IT network. Microsoft takes into consideration that apart from workstations connecting to the SBS, additional devices will also be connecting to it printers, scanners, and additional office peripherals , because of the type of services it is designed to provide.
What you may be experiencing is a statistics of all the devices, workstations and peripherals connected at the same time. This is an assumption, because from what you mention above, 11 can connect, but the 12th is refused, I assume you mean users and devices. If up to 12 users can connect to the SBS, they may not all be connecting to resources on the server. I have not noticed when this has effected printing at all.
I have watched as individuals log in and the license count clearly goes as users connect. I'll try connecting as the same user on several workstations tonight and see what happens then. For user 12, they can log into the local machine but can't access the formentioned resources. If I punch in the user name and password of a currently connected user it works fine, except for our database software which runs through the mapped network drive.
