Windows xp service pack 2 failed


















I am having trouble with 3 Updates for XP x I have enabled verbose logging, followed the steps in , but there is no Error 5. I have no idea where to go. Can anyone help? I emailed the Automatic Update helpers, but they just told me to come here. I have gone round in circles with this.

Can I assume that sp2 is installed and ok to use? No, you can't slipstream into a recovery partition in any reasonably simple way.

Installing SP2 into a pre-installed environment is likely to lead to problems. Any changes to the partition structure or boot process that may result could lock you out of the recovery area and prevent you from accessing it in the event of problems.

The recovery partition can not be used to repair an SP2 system. Usually, the manufacturers release an update that is specific to your machine. It was 0xd9 - Unable to read from or write to the database. This turned out to be related to the cryptographic services problem that I thought I had solved earlier. Previously I had just run the manual steps to solve this issue from the website www.

This time though I downloaded and ran a batch file fixdb. This did the trick. Was successful at installing sp3 as well. That should be it for a while.
